About Ian Smith

Ian Smith Design Ltd was founded in 2004 by business partners Ian Smith and Stuart Dawson. Both had previously worked together for AF Drysdale, a well established Edinburgh interior design company.
Initially Ian trained as structural and civil engineer and was involved in the design of many commercial projects in the 80’s and 90’s in the UK.
In the last eight years the company has grown slowly but substantially.
The company portfolio of residential projects is impressive from modern penthouse apartments to traditional family homes. So also the portfolio of commercial projects such as the interiors of Restaurant Martin Wishart, Leith, Edinburgh and Loch Lomond and most recently the acclaimed design of the new luxury hotel, The Atholl, situated in Edinburgh’s Georgian New Town. The latter was shortlisted for an award by the Society of British interior Designers and FX Magazine.
