The brief for this family kitchen in a large apartment in a converted Victorian Hospital was for a warm, welcoming space which would serve as a 'Cook's Kitchen' and a space for entertaining extended family and lots of friends.
The previous layout of the kitchen had a cramped dining area and the view on entering was of the sink and the washing machine. In addition, a peninsula unit cut into the space and impeded the flow. In order to fix these issues, the solution was to flip the kitchen around, placing the new dining table under the large window with a built-in banquette wrapping around two sides offering fun seating for children and flexible seating to accommodate guests.
A palette of navy, white and warm grey with accents of brass and blush pink was chosen to have broad appeal and offer a warm, classic space to entertain.
