This project goes to show that you can create a beautiful space even when you don't own the property you live in. This cottage, an old pub, is the temporary home of it’s tenants and the brief was to make it feel like home without spending any budget (or as little as possible) on the actual building itself. The first thing we did was to paint the entire house internally (obviously with the owners permission). Gone are the red and green walls to be replaced with muted greys, whites and creams. The inclusion of white throughout gave a freshness to what was a great space but rather dull looking. Budget was tight so we invested in high street finds where possible. Curtains (pure linen) and storage solutions from Ikea mix with vintage finds from local car boot sales and auction houses. Whilst the client’s own furniture also found the perfect resting places throughout. The result is clean, bright and uncluttered. The perfect modern home for a modern family within a building full of history.
