Our client asked us to bring life back to the seldom used, three room basement in their stunning Georgian townhouse. Our approach was to create an open-plan, sociable living, kitchen & dining space which flowed into the garden.
A great deal of effort went into ensuring our designs blended well with the character of the house, as well as making sure the rest of the property was fully protected during the extensive works.
The kitchen was viewed not just as a functional space, but as the heart of the home and its dual use as a place to cook and a place to socialise, both with family and evening guests, was a key brief requirement. The reclaimed oak work-surfaces, therefore, faced out into the room on two sides, with a breakfast bar addressing the living area and serving the busy morning routine, whilst the adjacent work-area functioned as a service and prep zone for both the inside and the outside dining spaces.
