Basement kitchen
The kitchen was viewed not just as a functional space, but as the heart of the home and its dual use as a place to cook and a place to socialise, both with family and evening guests, was a key brief requirement. The reclaimed oak work-surfaces, therefore, faced out into the room on two sides, with a breakfast bar addressing the living area and serving the busy morning routine, whilst the adjacent work-area functioned as a service and prep zone for both the inside and the outside dining spaces.
