This Georgian cottage had been extended heavily over the years and needed to be brought together with a theme that was grownup and sophisticated. Drawing on the countryside views that are visible from all of the windows, we created a scheme that celebrates all the greenery, but adds a few twists of plum and blue. We kept the wall colours soft and muted, and contrasted this with dark bronze ironmongery and electrical switching. The fabrics are organic but with luxury touches, using patterned and textured linens and velvets. We also sourced parquet flooring in a rustic grey oak, chunky textured carpets and rugs, and decorative cornicing and higher skirting boards. For the drawing room, a new limestone fireplace with contemporary chrome fire grate and a bespoke central ottoman were commissioned; and chairs were reupholstered with a subtle animal print. For the snug we used vintage velvets in rich colours and had the sofa and armchair custom-made to fit the space perfectly.
