The interior architects carried out a comprehensive conversion and modernisation of the loft within the grade 2* Victorian property in Maida Vale, central London, adding a rear mansard roof extension and a mezzanine with a metalwork staircase. By introducing a new staircase that ascends to a new mezzanine, the interior architects have created an enhanced connection and better cohesion across all floors of the loft.
Throughout the new spaces, the interior architects applied a consistent material palette of robust, dark materials that are softened by the extensive use of warm timber beams and flooring. Bespoke joinery throughout the apartment was custom designed by the interior architects and implemented by the main contractor. This includes the fireplace, bedroom wardrobes, living room, listening room on the mezzanine, kitchen and bathrooms.
