The brief for our clients - a professional couple with two young children - was to create for them a classic, comfortable, family living area and a kitchen/utility that has a bistro feel with an industrial, retro character.
It was important to the clients that we were sympathetic to the original features of this period property and to enhance its character. They wanted a grown up feel whilst practical for day-to-day living.
The overall scheme is informal but luxurious, that suits the family's lifestyle. It is contemporary, but remains warm and chic.
The scope of work entailed structural works to inner walls in order to combine the spaces ensuring they are lighter, more spacious and sociable. A bespoke kitchen was designed with key elements such as a solid wood work surface and floating shelving with ambient lighting. Brickwork was revealed as a feature and a rich vintage glass panel clad to the breakfast bar wall.
