Taking inspiration from Team’s logo and the immense space before me I created my design of enormous curved walls soaring into the space to overpower the existing monolithic staircases, giving the visual effect of reducing their height, whilst creating a structure that could compete and compliment the timber framework surrounding it. These partitions were designed to create a screen between ‘public’ and ‘private’ areas within the office. I used an historic palette with a delicate parchment colour on the walls, a charcoal grey, random laid, modular carpet, deep red accent walls and limestone effect floor tiles. Combined with modern, full height silicon jointed glazing displaying subtle manifestations, this purposely allowed visibility of the old oak columns through the building.
The old barn’s structure now appears to be at peace with its foreign interior, making the working environment for Team an inspiring yet calming place to work.
