A new build home in Wiltshire. A bespoke multi drop pendant creates the centrepiece in this hallway to give it a warm, welcoming atmosphere as well as creating a contemporary feel.
We were approached by a family with two very young children who were nearing completion of a 6000sq ft new-build house in Wiltshire who were looking for an interior designer to help with their contemporary interior home design . The building was fairly modern architecturally and commanded stunning views over the Marlborough Downs. The overall style our clients wanted for their home was classic-contemporary.
The kitchen needed to be crisp, contemporary and clean-lined but the reception areas needed to have more classic elements and warmer colours, with grey and aubergine a favoured palette. The children's rooms had to be fun yet timeless. We matched the family with a selection of local interior designers who we knew could meet the brief.
The interior designer’s remit included the kitchen, bathrooms, hard finishes such as flooring, decorative lighting, joinery design particularly for the large master bedroom dressing room, bespoke bar area and media unit as well as furniture and soft furnishings. But in the end our designer not only helped with the interior design but also brought in specialist tradespeople and suppliers and oversaw the process.
Lighting played a large part in the design. In the entrance hall a bespoke multi drop pendant creates the centrepiece and gives the hallway a warm, welcoming atmosphere as well as creating a contemporary feel. The ultra modern kitchen was softened by neutral colours and complimented by contemporary furniture and fabrics. A bespoke bar area was created using luxurious finishes to the joinery and deep-buttoned upholstered bar stools in a rich grey velvet with nickel stud detail, creating an inviting mood. The simple, modern lines in the luxury master ensuite bathroom work beautifully against the dark tiling to the floor and the walls, washed with discreet uplighters. A silvered finish was used on the bathroom joinery to maintain a glamorous feeling in the room. The dressing room was designed with linen door panels and a deep pile silk carpet to create a functional space with a calm, luxurious feel.
The result is stunning family home in a timeless, contemporary style.
