Bijou Beauty - Bedroom
These custom bi-fold French doors were designed for Space Optimisation & Architectural Compromise.
To save precious wall and circulation space, I expanded the opening to allow the inner door panels to fold back against their outer panels. This allowed the doors to stay fully open at a comfortable width, keeping the walls clear for radiators and artwork. It also created a beautiful frame of architectural detail that added to the character we were reinstating.
The client wanted modern Crittall-style doors, but English Heritage required a period look. The solution? A harmonious door design that balanced architectural detail with modern simplicity—crafted in solid wood, with enlarged window panes and a small, clean Shaker panel at the base that avoided an overly traditional look. We also finished them in a custom, inkly coloured paint to add to the Crittall-inspired aesthetic.
