Our clients approached us as they were completing the purchase of this grand Georgian property in early 2020. Originally built in 1750, this former B&B had sadly been stripped of most of its original features, following extensive renovations by previous owners. Being Grade II listed there were some limitations in what we could alter. We worked closely with a listed building consultant to develop a permitted package of works, to sympathetically update the house to suit modern family life.
As well as installing a full plasterworks package including raised & fielded panels & a bespoke decorative ceiling, we also designed an extensive joinery package including dressing rooms, new kitchen, boot & utility rooms. But the biggest change we made was commissioning a cantilever limestone staircase & tiles with Nero Marquina Cabochon inserts in the entrance hall.
