This was an ambitious design build project. The brief was to reconfigure the downstairs of a London Victorian Semi so that a number of separate rooms became one whole functioning space that the entire family could enjoy. It was very important that the garden felt part of the interior. It was also very important that we did not loose any of the period features. Once the build had seen the whole of the back of the ground floor of the house off and replaced with glass, and the rooms had been reconfigured to include kitchen, dining, music room, office and more formal living area we were able to put our mind to the final finishes. We chose muted greys and lilacs to compliment the coloured glass, original tiles and unusual kitchen worktop creating a balance between modern and traditional. We also mixed in some original 1960s furniture to the scheme to give the whole look one of collecting over the years rather than designed an implemented all at once.
