Our brief was a complete renovation of three buildings and a mismatch of rooms, together since 1810, creating a warm space in which the clients could entertain.
To unite the living spaces, we vaulted the ceilings and added ceiling beams. The entrance hall floor was raised to meet the adjoining rooms.
The original pool room had a corridor feel. To create an outside/in vibe, we installed Velux windows, tongue and grooved the walls and widened the doorway to the pool. A staircase lined with shelves links the pool room to a light and airy open-plan sitting/dining room. At the opposite end of the pool room are a study, two ensuite bedrooms and stairs to the master suite.
Across the hallway from the dining room, the winter lounge needed a more intimate feel. A ”library” at the far end with false sliding doors and discreet storage cupboards did the job.
The top-floor master suite includes a dressing room fitted with bespoke wardrobing and a luxurious marble/antique brass bathroom.
