We appointed to deliver a turn-key design service. The brief was to merge modern architecture with the existing period property without disturbing the integrity of the building to create a wonderful juxtaposition of old and new. Open plan living was key to the design and it needed to be implemented in a contemporary yet comfortable way.
We collaborated with glazing specialists to design and install a 6-meter high fully glazed extension, which included a mezzanine for our client’s library.
We combined design styles to work with the contrasting structures of the building. In the existing house we paid particular attention to reinstating architectural details such as cornices, skirting and architraves that were in keeping with the period of the property, whereas in the new extension clean lines and simplicity were paramount.
